Well, once again I have fallen way behind on blogs and I am trying to make a point to catch them all back up. I think this will be much easier once winter rolls in because there is way too much to do in the summer. All summer I have the Bristol Renaissance Faire, Car Shows, and yard work. Not to mention the continual battle with the rabbits and the various things I need to do around the house or with my son. I always seem to run out of time.
Took Bernice, my 1940 Oldsmobile (all original) to one of the local car shows and got third place. Unfortunately I missed the big car show I normally put her in because we were on vacation, it’s nice to see that even if she isn’t the prettiest or flashiest at the show that she definitely has admirers.
Bernice’s 3rd place
Well the Oldsmobile is done. Her joints have been replaced and she no longer feels like she’s all over the road. Next project on her is either going to be adjusting the steering box or new tires…guess it depends on funds. Also changed the 20 year old oil while we were under there and corrected a few ‘jury rigs’ that the last owner did to her.
As for me, doing okay on the writing front. Picked up a few more clients so I’m keeping busy. Between housework, yard work (and there is a lot) and writing, I am almost continually on the go. My only problem is keeping myself on track and not distracted by video games, blogs etc.
Things have been hectic since my last post, I haven’t even had a chance to read or respond to any of my normal blogs. I’ve had a lot of writing to do lately, most of it ghost writing so I can’t even lay claim to it, but it pays the bills.
For a mother’s day/birthday gift my hubby bought me the front end assembly for my Oldsmobile, so once that shows up I’ll be spending a lot of time of underneath her replacing 70-year-old joints (if only it was that easy for the rest of us). Once done it will be a lot safer to take her to the car shows and I won’t have to worry about breaking something every time I hit a bump.
This is going to be my last free weekend for the next several months. The only thing I have planned is some yard work from here out I have every weekend booked, and some of them are double booked. It’s going to be a busy summer.
Not much else to say so I’m just going to sign off. Have a good one.
Things are coming along okay, not enough yet to say I can make a living at this, but its starting look like I have a chance. I now have two steady ghost writing jobs and I have picked up a job as a contributor on a blossoming web site. I really hope this website kicks off to a good start because it’s on one of my favorite topics, cars. If this goes well I have a legitimate excuse to prowl dealerships. If it goes well enough, maybe I can include some of the repair projects for Bernice.
On the home front, it seems that my husband is actually starting to consider this a job. He actually made the comment about me “trying to start my business,” I almost fell over. That is the first time I have heard him admit it might just be feasible.
I admit that if this is going to take off then I need to start making a better system to keep track of the work and my billing or I am going to be giving away more than I make. For the rest of this month I will be working on a spreadsheet design that will go into effect at the beginning of next month. The hard part will be that my clients all want different billing cycles, I will figure something out.
Great spam project
Well I had written a post yesterday, it just did not go through thanks to my wonderful internet connection. I had my son yesterday so it was a little slower, but the weather was beautiful. I took my son and his friend down to the park and let them run wild while I sat at the picnic table with my laptop. I actually got more done than I thought I would. I will be taking him to school shortly and then it is back to work for me.
It’s supposed to be a gorgeous day, with thunderstorms tonight, so I might take my computer outside again. I have two articles I need to write today, if I’m good and get them done early I will reward myself a little and go work on my car. I have a 1940 Oldsmobile in beautiful shape, she is all original. She needs a little TLC, but she still purrs like a kitten when she’s warmed up…a geriatric kitten, but she still runs great. My big project on her, if I get the money, for this summer is to redo her front end assembly, all the joints are loose and the boots have rotted off.
I should get back on topic, this blog is not about my car. my hobbies or my son. This blog is about finding work primarily in writing and that is going very slow. I pick up a few articles here and there, but so far nothing that would pay the bills. I should be sending out my letters to local businesses later today so I figure it will be at least a week before I even have a remote chance of getting a bite.
In the meantime, I just continue writing.
